We aren’t ready to discuss specifics about factions and units, but we are building an experience that you’d expect from a traditional Command & Conquer game, with the advantage of continuously building new content based on player and community feedback.” Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a single-player portion anymore, a feature that seemed to be a prominent part of the game the last time we had a chance to ask about Generals 2. “The content that we have already created for Generals 2 will be part of this new free-to-play experience. In our development, we are guided by the commitment to create a gameplay experience that offers the cerebral, strategic fun and fast-paced action that fans have come to expect from our franchise with no barrier or resistance.” The Generals portion of this new Command & Conquer will still be built with Frostbite 2, though it appears to be too early to get a sense of the exact amount of content that will be included at launch. “We are still building out the game and the exact scope of the advanced experience has not been announced yet. This live service approach also makes developing games more exciting as we are constantly responding and reacting to community feedback to deliver content that they care about.” As of yet, no specific payment structure has been determined. With a lower barrier to entry, more people can experience our game and gain access to the cutting-edge visuals, sound and destruction of a full, AAA strategy game – for free. However, the difficulty of these added game mods is something almost entirely out of your reach. Aside from improving the base game with new missions, units, buildings, and technologies, it allows you to test your skills against AI-controlled opponents as well as real-world players. Its all-new story elements, told through the new campaigns, make C&C: Generals Zero Hour essential for any Command and Conquer player. You can fight cheaters, extremely experienced players, or simply Zerg Rushers in C&C. There is no matchmaking scheme so there’s no telling who you’ll be fighting against. While local games of up to 8 players are fun with friends, playing with strangers online is a different matter entirely. Lastly, this expansion introduces online play, either through LAN or through the internet. Be warned though: the final “boss” is a General that utilizes technologies from all factions. This is a crossover between campaign and skirmish, giving you a series of increasingly difficult and self-contained battles with AI-controlled players. One of these modes is the Generals’ Challenge, where you take on the mantle of a General and battle other contenders. You can also check out new gameplay modes not available in the original. Not only are there new missions to play, but it reintroduces a feature not available in the base game: live-action cutscenes where mission briefs are handed to the player. You get to complete additional story-driven tasks for the USA, the Global Liberation Army, and China - in the same order. The main feature of C&C: Generals Zero Hour is its three new campaigns, each having five missions. ![]()
